The Visionary

Pastor in the Community

Our First Family

One of Reverend T.D. Hughes’ most important roles is as a loving and devoted husband to his beautiful wife, First Lady Tonisha K. Hughes (married 2008), and proud father of their children Mia Madison and Kai Brooklyn.

No one understands the pressures and demands on the pastor more than his family. Consequently, our first family is the most valuable voice that helps our pastor to maintain balance between his abundant ministry work and family time.

Third Baptist Church of Chicago is fortunate to have a faithful first family led by an empowering senior pastor whose grace and love of Jesus enables him to lead his family, while loving and leading our church.

Our First Lady

“She is clothed with strength and dignity;  she laughs without fear of the future”  -Proverbs 31:25

When she speaks, people listen.
When she stands for a cause, it creates change.
When she leads with God first in her family, it is well.

The pastor’s wife commonly acts as the barometer of the family. A critical part of her ministry in the church is to her husband, and as such no one else in the congregation can fulfill this role. Her love, companionship, and friendship are vital to his strength and overall ministry of the church.

First Lady Tonisha K. Hughes is deeply committed to the work of the Lord. She is a powerhouse wife and mother who through her faith in God has become her husband’s chief advocate. She is the bedrock of their family and the heart of the church. As the first lady, she provides care and support to the youth ministry.

Tonisha has an extraordinary anointing that allows her, in her own special way, to care for the congregation and provide unwavering support and counsel to her husband as he preaches the Gospel and does the work of the Lord.

Our First Children

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” -Psalm 139:14

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV

“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'” (Luke 18:16)

Mia Madison Hughes is the oldest of Pastor and Tonisha’s two girls. She is smart, sweet, and clearly connected to God.

Kai Brooklyn Hughes is the youngest of the two Hughes girls. She has a bold, fearless and keen sense of awareness.

However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 5-7 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.

When You Can be Around Others After You Had or Likely Had COVID-19

Most people do not require testing to decide when they can be around others; however, if your  healthcare provider recommends testing, they will let you know when you can resume being around  others based on your test results.

For Anyone Who Has Been Around a Person with COVID-19

Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 should quarantine for 14 days after  their last exposure to that person, except if they meet the following conditions: Someone who has been fully vaccinated and shows no symptoms of COVID-19 does not need  to quarantine. However, fully vaccinated close contacts should:

  • Wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until a negative test result.
  • Get tested 5-7 days after close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
  • Get tested and isolate immediately if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
