Building Our Campus
Heritage Plaza Renovations
Quantum Faith and Third Baptist Church of Chicago recognized the increasing need for expanded programming, social services, and engaging community spaces with the ever-changing social climate. Creating safe spaces for the community to gather helps revitalize underserved neighborhoods experiencing significant disinvestment.
Constructed over 30 years ago by founding pastor Elmer Fowler, Heritage Plaza Meeting and Banquet Facility (the Plaza) serves as a business and community resource for cultural, educational, and celebratory events to enrich residents and the community.
In 2020, under the leadership of Reverend T.D. Hughes, came the vision to renovate the Plaza to provide upgraded meeting and event space, along with enhanced resources and services.
"I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat."
Matthew 25:35 (NIV)
“Five Loaves Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry will keep our community members fed, nourished, and connected.”
Reverend T.D. Hughes
Senior Pastor
The nucleus of Hughes’ new vision for the Plaza is Five Loaves Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry. The Food Pantry has operated for 17 years and serves over 150 families per week. The addition of the soup kitchen will be a vital resource for the community. “There’s no doubt about it; our soup kitchen will be essential to the lives of families on the southwest side of Chicago. It can help ensure people in crisis, including those who are facing housing insecurities, can still have a hot meal.”
Expanded Heritage Plaza services will include:
Economic Development
Anchoring capital in the community through increased resources, donations, partnerships, and support for residents and businesses.
Viable Partnerships
Enhanced relationships that involve collaboration between residents, organizations, businesses, and government entities, strengthening overall community pride and accountability.
Outreach & Resource Center
Serve as a community destination for those who seek to address and provide resources to individuals, businesses, and neighborhoods.
